Some Considerations Before Coming Up With A Decision In Decorating Your Home
September 4th, 2010Nothing is as satisfying for a homeowner than to put their own decorating feel into their home. Try using these choices when decorating your home.
Know what size you have to work with in a room. You do not want to put a huge piece of furniture in a cramped space nor have a smaller piece overwhelmed in a spacious room. This is true of walls as well. Choose one sizable painting over the clutter of a lot of little ones.
Redecorating often involves changes in lighting. You can used common recesses lighting or brighten things up with added lights. Decorating with different types of lamps can give the room a personal flair. You can also use lighting to accent paintings or sculptures.
Make an interesting choice and not a dull one. A complete set of furniture that completely matches will end up looking dull. You do not need to have several pieces of one type of furniture set for any room that completely matches. Spice things up.
Not matching does not mean not blending. Furniture colors and patterns should still complement each other. Only choose the pieces your really want for your decorating scheme.
Paint color will be a part of the whole room. You need to take care in choosing it. Don’t buy it before bringing home several swatches to make your final choice.
An even more effective tactic is to purchase a small amount of the paint you are deciding upon. You will then truly be able to see it in artificial and natural light in the room it will be in.
Once you have the basics done, you can add accent pieces. Be careful they do not take over the room and look obnoxious. You may like a bold print but be open to the idea that is makes a room gaudy.
Your home is your canvass on which to paint your personality.
